The tree in "The Contest" is carved from black jade from Ogden Mountain. This source of black jade is completely mined out. Lyle acquired the jade from the estate of the renowned Canadian jade carver David Wong. The exquisite petrified wood base is carved from a specimen 250 million years old! The blue fish is carved from chalcedony, an agate usually found in much smaller pieces in jewellery.
