| Ever since my first flight over the prairies I’ve been intrigued by the overhead view of landscape and human activity. In art school it was defined as “Oriental Space” – an approach to drawing and painting in which there is no designated top or bottom. This term was coined by European artists who first came into contact with artists from China. In this work I have combined my love of a bird’s eye view with another element that prairie dwellers love – the 3-D effect of brilliant sunlight on form. |
