"When Fiveshields crossed The Red Line….well, something dramatic happened. Who knows what the red line means. Could it be a spiritual boundary? Most likely. Are there consequences? Absolutely. Did they have to cross the red line together? Of course. What do YOU see in it as a viewer. There’s magic, without a doubt….and what comes after that, well….I think we will find out in subsequent vision paintings!"
Janice works mostly in large scale oil paintings, on fine imported Belgian linen. These traditional materials allow for sensitive, fine detail and archival quality, and are usually mounted on hand-made, customized stretchers with a deep, significant profile designed and crafted by her husband. Janice (Iniskimaki - Buffalo Stone Woman) is a an adopted member of the Blackfoot Nation (Siksika) through traditional ceremony, by Elder Tom Crane Bear and family. She celebrates all of her family ties in the themes of her artwork, and in her community involvement.
